Biography
MARAT MORIK
Marat Morik is a Russian artist. He was born in 1982 in an academic campus in Novosibirsk. From his early years he developed an interest in drawing and learned the basics of painting in an art school. Later having received degrees in philology and economics from the Novosibirsk State University he devoted his life to visual arts. In 1998, having obtained access to the internet, Marat learned about hip-hop culture and ventured into graffiti which helped him to develop spray-painting skills and a love for experiments with letter forms. Also, thanks to his graffiti experience, Marat started producing large scale works. Nowadays Marat is particularly interested in texture, mixing techniques and materials on different surfaces. His output varies and includes both figurative subjects as well as abstract compositions. At times in Morik’s works abstract forms are combined with realism, expressionism and typographic elements. Marat actively collaborates with street art galleries all over the world and creates large murals.
